The part of the mind that puts things together and pulls them apart is called the analytical mind. It reasons, actively classifying things into categories. It compartmentalizes and "figures things out." This part of the mind knows about stuff, ordering chaos through partitions on internal maps representing the external world.
Analytical minds synthesize and project understandings atop the world. They calculate and act upon the world through representations that classify undifferentiated stimulation into known parts, knowing about things through the interrelationships of its constructed partitions. Just as words are defined by other words, directly limited in relation to one another --words defined by other words, defined by other words, ad infinitum-- maps of reality are composed (or inherited) through the internalization of language.
Language encodes culture.
In a very real sense, the analytical mind knows the world only indirectly and adjacently, through its semantical partitions. It culls complexity with simple boundaries; we are taught that rainbows have but seven colors, and so that's how many we come to see, through our mind, each with its proper name and place. The analytical mind anchors us to persisting contexts and axioms; thus, communication with noncorporeal entities is delusional and most of the content on this site is crazy, so it should be dismissed wholesale. That's easier, cleaner, smarter.
The analytical mind builds layers that harden around "sensible" (i.e., batshit crazy) adults, who come to live in inflexible old wineskins inexorably separating them from their inner child's heart; and so they blot out the kingdom of heaven beneath their dirty feet with "respectable knowledge" and "what the science says."
As vocabularies shrink and false synonyms artificially conflate disparate concepts, the discriminatory power of the analytical mind decreases. A good proxy for this observable decline in society is how poorly people write on their own, without computerized assistance, because how people write is how they think. This cumulative dumbing down has led to chronically ill populations who walk incorrectly, can't originate anything (so they "think" and "feel" what their owners tell them to), and don't even know what food is.
The rise and fall of civilizations concerns a few; most of every generation remains essentially the same. Their willful ignorance, lies, rationalizations, and justifications haven't changed in over a billion years. The poor have and will always be with us, and the meek inherit the earth daily.
One tangential concept to the analytical mind is that of functional intelligence. A friend of mine once defined intelligence as the ability to create and solve problems. From the viewpoint of an analytical mind, global intelligence pertains to cross-connection and holistic regard of isness, the speed with which an analytical mind moves, through iterative exploration and incorporation of existing knowledge, from undefined unknowns to known knowns through simultaneous dual-hemispheric activity and cooperation.
Several genetic and experiential factors impact functional intelligence, contributing to differences in neuroplasticity, cortical cross-connection, hemispheric cooperation, neurotransmitter quantities and sensitivities, and dendritic growth patterns. The speed and accuracy with which a brain can accomplish specific tasks is affected, also, by practice and experience. Diet and sleep affect clear thinking, as well; if you're strung out on sugars and flours, chronically not sleeping enough, eating too little protein or a peasant's carb-based diet, your neurological potential is compromised.
But most of all, functional intelligence is eaten up by bloatware, and it is in this way that an analytical mind divides a person against himself. Bloatware fills a mind with extemporaneous and distracting considerations. It is often installed on one by shitty parents and teachers. Examples of it include false beliefs, unnecessary (or incorrect) calculations, and wrong maps of the territories one is traversing. Bloatware is comprised of bad programming -- useless or unworkable considerations that alter straight-forward calculations into sordidly complex or aberrant behavior. Bloatware ruins things, because applying incorrect data and unworkable ideas inevitably lead to loss and ruin.
This is how technically intelligent people so often come to be so incapable. It is a shortcut to becoming a critical loser, as well as how the adjective "academic" has come to signify, to anyone outside of that cult, little more than inconsequence and masturbatory self-regard.
To humans, the analytical mind is thinking through brain tissue. The outside-of-body analog is consideration flow, self-to-self communication providing foundational context(s) for play-acted decision points.
Analytical minds understand butterfly ideas by pinning them to pages, cutting them open, and viewing them in parts. The resulting butterfly parts, or facts, are their currency. Therefore, an analytical mind's proper domain is workable truth (lowercase 't'), the linear navigation of persisting realities.
Truth, complete and actual, is/has no matter for a mind, and the most direct proof of this is in its balking at the direct observation that Truth vanishes. Anything True (uppercase 'T') in an absolute sense completely vanishes, completely and forever, without trace. That is how a spirit knows that a thing is True. (If this isn't self-evident, no wonder you're reading this!)
Minds can possess workable truth, because that concerns parts acting upon parts; an analytical mind can parcel and organize internal representations of persistences, but that's about it. To an analytical mind, the first part of the prior paragraph can only be nonsense, because it cannot "have" it. Something that vanishes cannot be pinned to a lasting page: Truth, whole and complete, cannot be broken into parts. Truth vanishes; only lies (and partial truths) persist and can be confronted by an analytical mind.
The content of the prior paragraph elucidates why those who believe they are their analytical minds remain among the most insufferable, reality-enforcing lunatics out there in society today.
If Truth didn't vanish, there would be neither salvation nor redemption.
So much for the analytical mind...
